- On arrival please make yourself comfortable in the Sade Suites waiting room. We will come out and get you when our staff is ready to begin your appointment.
- Prior to treatment the area of treatment will be cleansed.
- We will apply a topical numbing cream if necessary to ensure you are comfortable for your treatment.
- A follow up appointment 2 weeks after initial treatment is recommended to ensure satisfaction of treatment.
- Temporary injection site redness and swelling is common and usually goes away within hours.
- For Lip filler, swelling often lasts several days. Bruising may last 5-7 days, lumpiness, and uneven areas are common during the healing process and may last up to 3 weeks.
- Results are immediate and last anywhere from 6–24 months.
- To reduce the risk of bruising and swelling, refrain from taking blood-thinning medications, supplements, and foods (unless they are prescribed to treat a health condition) for a week before your appointment. Medications & supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. Johns Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect.
- Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to your treatment to reduce the chances of bruising.
- Schedule your injection appointment at least 1 month prior to a special event, such as a wedding or vacation. This will allow adequate time for healing and touchups if needed.
- One week prior to your procedure, start taking Arnica tablets to reduce bruising. Please do so unless you are allergic or it is incompatible with any medication or medical condition you have – this may include high blood pressure. Arnica can be purchased at your local pharmacy or on Amazon. Please make sure to follow the directions on the label.
- In the event you need a pain reliever within two weeks before or after your filler appointment, you may take Tylenol unless it is contraindicated for you.
- Please eat a light meal before your appointment to avoid getting nauseated and faint.
- Stay hydrated for a week before your treatment, especially if you are getting dermal fillers. Fillers pull moisture to the surface and dehydration can minimize results!
- Please ensure that you do not have any dental appointments two weeks before or after treatment.
- If you have any autoimmune disorders or contraindications, please clear your procedure with your primary physician prior to your appointment.
- We will not perform lip filler or nasolabial filler on anyone that has braces. Please book your appointment after your braces are removed.
- You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
- Do not apply makeup to the treated area for 24 hours
- Continue to avoid alcohol for 1-2 days to reduce the risk of bruising If approved by your primary care provider, continue to avoid blood thinning medications for up to 1 week after treatment to avoid bruising.
- Continuing to take Arnica after treatment (while bruising persists) can help to heal bruising faster.
- No dental work for 2 weeks after your treatment.
- Do not massage the treated area. Fillers will settle and soften on their own.
- Avoid IPL/BBL or microneedling for 1-2 weeks post-procedure.
- Call the clinic immediately (319-768-6302) if the areas treated become red or hot to the touch days after treatment or if you notice any odd bruising or evidence of poor blood flow to your skin.
- Call the clinic as soon as possible if patchy, red, or hot patches appear in the treatment area or around the treatment area, if you have severe or increasing pain, or if the area becomes red or hot to the touch after the procedure.
- Please come to your follow up appointment 2 weeks after your injections. This appointment is important for us to make sure you are happy with your results and to discuss any touchups or additional filler appointments that may be needed.
- Severe pain and/or color change (pale/dusky/blotchiness) of skin anywhere on the face. Even if it’s away from the area injected.
- Increase in pain, discomfort, color change hours after injections.
- Herpes or blister-like outbreak 24-72 hours after injections.
- Severe swelling (3 times increase in size) 12 hours post-treatmen
